Ok! so island life is continuing to treat me well, the days off make up for having to work in a retail store from 9 to 5 everyday!! if i wasn't in such a gorgeous place then i would be bored out of my mind! i am ready to go home now and be ready for christmas and spend time with family and friends and all that good stuff! it is weird being here on the island and everyday is 30 celsius and sooo hot, but it is messing me up cause it is meant to be cold and windy and rainy! sunny skies in november is so strange!! but im not complaining! This last sunday i got home from church and me and the roomies went to our favourite beach called sandy bay and this time we went there were 6 foot waves which is the biggest we have seen so far here! i guess Caribbean waters are generally quite calm! i need to take my surf board with me next time! :)
Yes that is right in the middle of the Caribbean i found a London bus! and on the front of it the destination is hammersmith!! so how that thing got all the way over to st.thomas i dont know but i drove past it like the third week we were here and only just now did we pull over and actually get a picture with it! a little slice of home in the virgin islands! it is now home to a bbq restaurant which i am sure i will get to try at some point!
Ok so the picture above is of me on the safari which is what we call a taxi! i find it weird calling it a taxi cause were not in africa! but either way it is basically a dodge dakota with seats screwed into the pick up section on the back! it was bumpy but a great experience! We named the driver charles, he drove like a mad man.
underneath is a pic taken from the safari and it is a pic overlooking the beach on st.john! the place is just gorgeous! and i fully intend on living on this island one day!
At first i thought these guys were missionaries!! haha..i thought of the parade i went to with the whettons in utah and there was like 50 elders in it. doing the haka! Gotta love utah!
so yes i am standing in the middle of the parade right now but i had to get a quick picture of me and the marching band! i had some big black lady telling me to get out of the way but i had to get my picture with the marching band! i am sure under her breath she was like "flipping tourists" haha..
this all took place right outside our workplace so of course we all dropped what we were doing and went outside to watch what was going on! it was a friday afternoon so any excuse to get out of the store right?!!
